Day #1045 - Farewell to a Close Colleague

I only have a handful of colleagues whom I considered close and could talk to freely.
So having one less of a handful is nothing short of significance.

Bun got a fever at night.
So Dearest and I only focused on his condition.

Day #1039 - Self-Belief


I have decided to post quotes that are relevant to the things I am reading in the "Be The Lion" book.
This way, I don't have to think of what type of quotes to post for the day. =)

Today's read was about self-belief.
This quote reminded me of the conversation between my pilot course instructor.
The entire course went out with a few instructors for the night and had a few drinks.
By that time, I had already failed my pilot course and was just waiting for the flight home with the rest of the course.
One of the instructors was talking to me about what I was going to study in university.
I said psychology, because I was interested in understanding humans.
His reply was that I will fail at psychology, mainly because he felt that I was a very quiet individual, and he thought a psychologist needed to be anti-quiet.

I could understand why he would think as such.
I wasn't very interested in talking to my coursemates nor the instructors.
But still, getting an evaluation from a much older individual that you will fail at something left a pretty bad taste in me.
I kept quiet at that time, but I didn't waver in my choice.
His opinion doesn't matter.
My belief in myself remains the most important driver and pivoting point for my decisions.

And as it turns out, it was the right choice. =)

Planning takes committed time, which I used to do maths questions and then spend time watching a baby documentary with Dearest. 
I would need to put down some time for planning.

  • Dearest being able to have a fun interaction with Bun before bathtime and night time
  • Being able to have a strong self-belief system

It feels like a normal day. 
Simple, and yet, filled with tasks to fulfill like every other day.

But I definitely felt grateful, for this girl who said married me this day, 2 years ago.
And i still love her dearly.

Things to be Grateful for:
- Dearest being the protector of Bun using her strong intuition ever since he was conceived
- A nice game of darts with badminton colleague
- Being able to rant to my colleagues on things at work that upset me

I think I have grossly underestimated the number of things Dearest and I need to do back at home after coming back from work, especially now we got more things to wash and prepare since Dearest has started working.

Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Dearest had a good first day at work while doing mummy's duties
  • A good and hearty chat with colleagues
  • BunBun being healthy and not exhibiting any abnormal behaviors so far

  • Dearest doing her best to be okay with certain things
  • Bun sleeping promptly after his milk

Day #1022 - Outsourcing


A recent theme of my life is to think about outsourcing the tasks I have.
Dearest recommended engaging someone to help with ironing.
It is a great idea! For the price and the time saved.
But unfortunately, with the recent event of COVID-19, we both thought it's better to come back to this at a later date.

It's Bun's first day at infant care.
Slightly emotional to leave him in the arms of another.
But it's also comforting to know he's in good hands, and liberating to have some time to ourselves, both me and Dearest.
I guess it could also be considered outsourcing the tasks for taking care of Bun.
We may have less time for Bun, but I think overall, the quality of being with him will improve as we will be more energized to interact with him on the weekends =)
