  • Managed to buy the SATA cable that I need from Challenger
  • Computer was alright (something went wrong when I fixed up the SATA cable, and I had to troubleshoot for a while)

Day #501 - Eventful Day


Today was an eventful day!
It started so early, and went on so fast that I didn't remember to set goals today for myself.
But it would still be good to note down the other stuff.

Today's Small Wins:

  • Managed to obtain Silver for my IPPT (will be trying for Gold before my birthday)
  • Had a good interaction with the guys and Dearest at my friend's daughter's 100th day
  • Hosted a nice steamboat/bbq dinner for my family together with Dearest
Today's Small Losses:
  • Got into an argument with Dearest and lost my emotions for a bit
  • Was late for the celebration
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Quality time with my family and Dearest
  • Body was still able to achieve a Silver standard
  • Smile and laughter with my friends

Day #500 - 500 DAYS ALREADY?


It's scary to know that I have begun this personal movement for 500 days, and it seems that nothing significant has happened.
But at least, I hope my recent acumen for my career path is right.

Day #499 - Deliberation vs Acting


In relation to the book that I'm reading...

There is a point of maximum deliberation, and beyond this point, further deliberation is pointless.
Action must be taken to fulfill the aim of the deliberation.

Goals of the Day:
  • Physical Training after work

  • Financial accounting for Aug
    • Not Achieved
  • [Office] Formulate plan for project F
    • Not Achieved
Did an IPPT trial after work with myself.
  • 2.4km Run: 11:30min (37 pts)
  • Push-ups: 36 (19 pts)
  • Sit-ups: 37 (20 pts)
Total Pts: 76 (Silver; $300)

Usually I would be able to do more push-ups and sit-ups during the actual test than in training, and I hope this would be true this Sat too. 
Borderline Silver is a bit dangerous too. 
I want that $!

Today's Small Wins:
  • Did IPPT trial after work
  • Did household chores
Today's Small Losses
  • Over-exerted myself during the IPPT trial; felt too weak to do anything after that
  • Things at work are not going smoothly; gotta work harder at it
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Being able to have a small gathering at work and eat mooncakes provided by my colleagues
  • Dearest patiently waiting 30 min for my pineapple rice at the new Thai stall

Day #498 - Against the Wind


I walk against the wind.
Because this way, I can feel the wind more.

After I washed up back at home, I felt too drained already, and decided a good and timely sleep was better than staying up to complete my goals for the day.

  • Had a good evening with Dearest's family and managed to fix up some IT stuff
  • Timely sleep

  • Didn't meditate
  • Not that focused at work
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • A delicious dinner bought by Dearest's mum, and her helping to scoop the chilli out from my packet
  • Being able to help fix the IT stuff

Day #497 - Don't Stay Still; Move Forward


If I stand still, I will lose the balance in my life.
So I need to move, and I need to keep moving forward.
No matter what scenario is played out, my moving shouldn't stop.

  • Dearest willingness to spend time with my family

Being the type of energy that no matter where I go, I will always add value to the people around me.

It's gonna be a tight 2 days before I fly off with Dearest tomorrow in the night.
Time to plan out all the activities to do and check them off one by one.

Day #479 - Just Play


It's my company's sports day today!
Unlike previous years, I didn't take part in any of the activities; only joined my badminton group for a 2-hour session.
It's the last working day before my Poland trip. Whee~!

Goals of the Day:
  • Have a good badminton session

  • Go shopping for clothes for the upcoming trip with Dearest
    • Achieved
  • Plan for Zakopane
    • Achieved
  • Book tickets for London
    • Not Achieved
Booking flight is always something that scares me a little.
Probably because of the amount of money and commitment involved in making a booking, I tend to always put off buying them a bit, just to give myself a bit more time, in case something came up that I haven't thought of previously to invalidate my entire itinerary.
But I do recognize and acknowledge that this is a cognitive bias, and that I should be confident of my choices and my thought process.

Today's Small Wins:
  • Good workout at badminton
  • Nice evening with Dearest over dinner and clothes shopping
  • Did some transport planning for Zakopane and successfully booked the tickets for the cable car up to a mountain peak (which a lot of people recommended because of the fear of long queue)
Today's Small Losses:
  • Have not booked my tickets for London yet
  • Didn't meditate
  • Didn't sleep on time
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Dearest was tired, but she still made the effort to give me a massage at the end of the day, and she added the extra element of a heated pad to soothe my tired muscles >_<
  • To be in a bunch of colleagues with whom I could interact well with (because there are some colleagues I know who don't seem to belong)

Day #478 - Decluttering for Better Decision


Life is full of clutters.
And we need to constantly navigate through these clutters to attempt to grasp what's important, and then make decisions.
However, it's not easy to sieve through tons of unnecessary information, and more often than not, we got lost in the process of doing so and just settle for the convenient choice that is laid out in front of us.
Is the choice the best you can get?
Do you feel empowered making decisions like that?
I certainly don't.

Goals of the Day:
  • Settle travel administration

  • Have a good evening with Dearest's family

  • Be focused at work and finish all the handover matters before I leave

  • Unintentionally drank Dearest's drink which could have infected me with her recent flu/cold

  • A nice and relaxing massage from Dearest at night (codeword: s.beast) haha..
  • Dearest's grandma's cooking, even though it was quite spicy for me

Day #477 - Route to Success


The route to success is the imaginary path conjured by my ambition.
But the vehicle in which I travel along this path has to come from my stubborn persistence.

  • Prepare things to hand over to my colleagues while I'm away

  • Plan the 2nd leg of the itinerary

  • Draft out a working list of things to bring for the trip

Felt rather drained when I got home, but I still managed to draft out a packing list and settled the travel insurance.

  • Did handover matters early 
  • Settled some trip matters (roundtrip tickets for the trip, packing list, travel insurance)
  • Quality time with Dearest over Sherlock Holmes =)

  • Slept late
  • Didn't meditate
  • Not that focused at work lately
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Realized that canceling the 1-way and booking round trip is cheaper than booking two 1-way tickets because somehow the 1-way that was purchased previously allowed refund
  • Still feeling physically okay despite being close to Dearest who has been sick on and off for a couple of days

Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • My teammate recognized my work for the team and implied that I should have got promoted the previous round
  • Him telling me as one of the first few in the team, which shows that I'm one of the closer ones

Day #475 - Getting Unbounded


Procrastination is just my unwillingness manifesting itself due to the fear of the uncharted.

The evening was spent watching the first episode of Sherlock Holmes together with Dearest and thereafter, a long conversation on my new idea on maths application app/website and how I want to go about starting a free tutoring service. Dearest was being very supportive and encouraging, but at the same time, pointed out some potential challenges along the way.

  • Good discussion and determination to push forward in my career
  • Quality time with Dearest
  • Finished another book! (The Art of Thinking Clearly)

  • Didn't exercise
  • Didn't do planning for Poland itinerary
  • Didn't write the teachers' day letter (but at least I bought the stamp)

  • Dearest massaging me while we watched Sherlock Holmes =p
  • Dearest being okay to spend time with my family this coming weekend before we fly off
  • Having a good discussion on my career with Dearest who was being supportive and encouraging
