Day #441 - Surging Motivation


Lots of things to do.
But I have a surging motivation to go do them.

Goals of the Day:

  • [Office] Prepare mock dataset and the formulas involved

It's the end of the month.
7 months just flew past for this year.
I gotta find better ways to make use of time.

Today's Small Wins:
  • [Office] Managed to get some working solutions for my dataset management
  • Did lots of housework (laundry, folding clothes, hanging clothes, ironing)
  • Fixed up the new RAMs and SSD
Today's Small Losses:
  • Didn't practise good habits
  • Didn't exercise today
  • Screwed up the shifting of OS to the new SSD and can't figure out how to resolve it
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • The Qoo10 package that was placed at my door and wasn't stolen
  • Dearest was largely okay with the above arrangement (but prefer not to in future)

    • Achieved for Dearest's side, Trying to come up with potential dates for my side
Recently I have been feeling that I'm losing control of my life; both at work and back at home.
Lots of tasks pending, and lots of things that I want to do.

Day #434 - A Good Sleep


Sleep seems to be getting a bit better.
I don't wake up as many times as before, and I woke up a bit nearer to my supposed waking time.

  • Managed to push myself to go for the Wordpress workshop after work even though it was far, tiring, and I had to rush through my dinner
  • Logically think through my needs and decided the follow-up 2-day workshop which would cost me $299 is required

  • Slept really late

  • Dearest's brother sent me home; we coincidentally met at the workshop. haha..
  • Dearest stayed up a bit and welcomed me when I got home

Needed to attend to some urgent work matters after lunch.
Therefore, I wasn't able to complete the review of 4 papers.
Went into a bit of OT and chatted with colleagues over dinner.
By the time I got home, it was quite late already.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

  • Ran 2 km (9:20min) - even though it's a cold morning, I willed my body to push a bit harder

Day #427 - Turning Negative Situations Into Positives


My sleep has been quite disrupted for the past 1 week or so.
I keep waking up for no apparent reasons in the middle of the night several times.
Usually, I don't really feel extremely tired, but Dearest and I thought it's pertinent to resolve the situation.
We tried a couple of ways, like adding the humidifier to keep my throat moist, switching off the aircon and adding the fan, etc.
Not much of it is working, but at least I thought I should keep a sleep journal to document things.

Sleep Journal #1
  • Switched sides with Dearest, aircon @ 24 degree Celsius, wearing long pants, covered with the brown blanket
  • Remembered that I woke up twice at 2+am, 3am, and 5am
  • Still feel rather okay, especially after a morning jog
Goals of the Day:
  • Exercise
    • Achieved
  • Complete the allocation of time for Q2 roles
    • Achieved
Did a huge purchase today on Amazon because of the Prime deals to upgrade my pc.
Spent over $1k SGD on my 4 items. 
Expensive, but I feel it's worth it.

  • Ran for 2km (light jog)
  • Completed the allocation of time for Q2 roles
  • Managed to get a good discount on the graphics card! (and took out some items that I found out I could get them in a cheaper way)
  • Meditated for 10 min

  • Distracted at work because of the Amazon Prime day deals

  • Dearest's support for me to make the huge purchase
  • The big discount for the graphics card

It says the great leaders lead by answering the WHY first, before the HOW and WHAT.
It feels like the way I should lead my life; define my purpose, find a way to do it, and then see the output.

After my career facilitation session with Mui Tiang, it got me thinking more on my WHY in DSO.

Day #421 - Start The Day With A Positive Thought


I started the day with a grumpy mood because I woke up a couple of times.
It wasn't abnormal to have that, but I thought with the humidifier and the other changes that Dearest and I did, my sleep would be better.
I was frustrated that the sleep didn't go well, against my expectation, or wish.

With that said, I still believe that I should start my day with a positive thought.
As it should every single day.

"My sleep will get better."

As I started to review again my 5 choices and to reaffirm and make adjustments to my previous commitments, I start to feel more motivated to push myself to achieve what I have set out to do.

It does take a bit of time to review the 5 choices from the scratch, but I think it's definitely worth it.
