Day #379 - Work Smart & Fast


I started out the day at home being productive while waiting for Dearest to get ready for work.
And I aimed to stay that way to accomplish my work goals in office.

    • Not Achieved
  • [Personal] Download Android Studio in the larger drive and work through Lecture 5 again

Had a family emergency and had to rush to the hospital after work with Dearest instead of going back to my parents' place.
Not quality time spent, but definitely worth the time and effort to care for a relative.

Back at home, tried to install Android Studio in my larger drive, but the program couldn't run properly because it can't detect where some of the components are. I had trouble finding out what are the issues to tackle. I think it would be faster just to buy a bigger SSD and use it as my C drive. haha..

Today's Small Wins:
  • Submitted my slides before I left work
  • Went to care for a relative
  • Put in effort to tackle the android studio problem

  • Dearest's constant accommodation for my diet preference, which inevitably restricts her food choices tremendously
  • Burnt injury from oil splatter on my hand wasn't that serious

I started this (almost) daily goals settings 1 year ago.
Although I don't fulfill my goals consistently everyday, but it reminded me to be mindful of my actions in the day, and kept my grounded to the daily goals.
I'm glad I started it, even though I still suck at it.

  • Reinstall Android Studio (the current version seems a bit wonky when I tried to writes codes on it)

Because she felt that she wasn't given the opportunities to do so when she was young, but our kids can have that =)

  • Completed the framework needed for coding
  • Was a good helper to my Dearest, who was the main cook today!

I chose to challenge myself for the few Saturdays, including today, leading up to the Armour Road Relay.
And even though I was probably one of the slowest, if not the slowest, runners in the team, I'm still glad that I forced myself out of the bed today to get some running done.

With deadlines coming, I better buck up.

Initiated a mahjong session with the guys to catch up with them after nearly 2 months of not seeing them.
Had to manage a situation at work where a colleague and I have different viewpoints on the matter. I'm not sure whether I did okay.
Perhaps I should be more open and consider more.

  • Was willing to sacrifice my personal time to go back office after badminton to retrieve keys for my colleagues who were working late

Day #353 - Confidence comes from Discipline and Training

Goals of the Week:
  • Finish Udemy Section 3 on Android App Development [Status: 4/10]
    • Did 2 lectures today
Goals of the Day:
  • 3 Lectures of Udemy course
    • Achieved 66.67%
  • 45 min of household chores
    • Achieved
  • Practise good habits
    • Not Achieved
It was kinda hard to start my engine at work today.
But I still manage to get some work done in the noon.
Had good discipline sitting myself down to do some learning, but only manage to do 2 lectures instead of the 3 that I have planned for.
Was constantly distracted from social media; not good.

Today's Small Wins:

Today's Small Losses:
  • Distracted at work
  • Didn't meditate
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Dearest's massage at the end of the day
  • A stable job that brings in income
  • My supervisor's understanding and approval of my overtime claims (because I didn't get pre-approval)

Day #352 - A Good Rest


Back from a 4-day holiday with Dearest.
Got to try a lot of activities together =)
It was kinda different from the previous holidays.
Because it's the first time we went away as a married couple.
And also because I didn't pack our schedule like sardines.

Goals of the Week:
  • Finish Udemy Section 3 on Android App Development [Status: 2/10]
    • No progress today
Goals of the Day:
  • Get off work on time
    • Achieved
  • 2 lectures on Udemy
    • Not Achieved
  • Practise good habits (meditate and sleep on time)
    • Achieved
Felt a bit unwell today.
Might be the expired milk in the morning, and/or the 4 prawn paste chicken I ate during lunch.
So I decided to not stress my body and mind too much after I got back home and just rested after dinner.

Today's Small Wins:
  • Meditated for 10 min
  • Slept at 11pm
  • Had a good cooking session
  • Resolved a conflict with Dearest
  • Managed to get to work early to prepare for an update meeting
Today's Small Losses:
  • Didn't do the 2 lectures that I wanted to
  • Too much heaty food during lunch
Things I'm Grateful for Today:
  • Dearest buying the tonic drink for me even though it's quite troublesome to get to
  • A house that I can rest in
  • My colleague for being a teammate in our course of work by preparing the slides for the update meeting
